its made in china, it has a 5 ft, 5 minute guarantee, and most likely is not very accurate either.

I have seen posts regarding this tool, apparently there is no adapter for our diesels included. Our GPs have a thread of M10-1.00 ........ Hastings tools sells individual adapters.

I have seen some good tools from Harbor Freight, but I have also seen some real garbage. Bad thing is you don't know which it is till it is in front of you and you try to use it.

i agree with you on that but ive used mine and it works fine, i could see if you were a diesel mech and used it everyday then i would buy a high dollar one, but when you use it once in a blue moon it works just fine.

It is probably fine. It's not that often that an actual reading is important, unless you are under a warranty situation where an actual reading is needed. Or you are going to check an engine you are interested in buying. You don't need a glycerin filled guage with Parker 2 wire molded hose. If you have a compression problem it will be obvious and knowing wether the compression is 325 or 375 psi on a cylinder isn't important. Either way it's broke. Most engines don't even have a publicised spec anyway or an easy way to obtain a reading. Engine temp, and style's of rings can change things to much

Bob if you want it buy it. You don't need anything fancy.

That's the one I bought and used to check my engine. Seemed to work just fine. One caveat. The adapter that the instructions say to use, won't work. It is a GP adapter but the bottom of the "stem" is bigger diameter than the hot end of our GPs, so it won't fit down in there. HOWEVER, one of the little nipple fittings will screw right into the GP hole and works just fine.

I have seen that too Dave. Bought a sand blaster about 7 years ago and it still is running strong. Was really dissapointed recently when I bought an electric polesaw from them. When I got it, it was broken in a few places, obviously had some previous use (judging by the sawdust caked on it). Could really tell when some of the parts bags were tied off by hand and not sealed. They made good on it though by sending a new one so I wasn't too upset over it

I'd have to get this one: http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=46800
I have a Case 680 backhoe - Cummins engine in a Grader and Detroit Diesel in a compactor.

HarborFreight rule of thumb: you get what you pay for, cheap drill bits are cheap USELESS drill bits, but tie bands that break every time you tighten one are defeative. I have a band saw, drill press, many hand and air tools that works fine, my latest tool was a 40 inch Brake/Shear about $1.10 a pound and worth every penny.
I purchased a warranty for an Anvil to prove a point to the manger about their hiring practice; cheap doesn't always get you what you need to get the job done.
