I have a 1987 Ford F-250 with tilt column. I've never had a Ford tilt column apart and need to repair the play between the upper and lower column. I'm getting vertical as well as horizontal movement in the steering wheel. the steering wheel itself is tight on the shaft. Has anyone been here before. I'd like to get an idea on what I need for parts before I tear this thing apart. Any help appreciated.
Have a `87 F250 myself with tilt but the steering is tight. Your problem may be the little bearing just under the steering wheel. It is held in place with a snap ring and should be easy to replace if it is the problem. You will need to pull the steering wheel to find out.
