I have 351m that I am going to rebuild to a 400. What do you guys think about the vally pan under the intake? Should I use one or not. thanks for any help.
If you use the exhaust crossover in the manifold, you need a valley pan. Some aftermarket manilolds do not have this crossover. Just use a gasket in this case.
The purpose of the exhaust crossover is for fast warmup of the fuel/air mixture in cold weather. Once the motor is warm, it serves no purpose.
The valley pan prevents oil from coking on the hot exhaust crossover. if the crossover is not hot, the valley pan is not needed.
