I have heard that some 2005 Ford 5.4's are having a condition they are refering to as "hydro lock" . An injector sticks open and loads up the cylinder with fuel and then on compression it bends the rod. Since the V10 is such a close relative has this happened to anyone??? Sounds very strange to me, especially if you shut the engine down when it starts running poorly. How could a little injector load up a cylinder fast enough to cause this problem? Sounds like a new scam by some dealership!
The injectors they put on these are actually one of the better designs and have a extraordinary "in service" history record of less the 0.239 failures per 100,000 installed.
A stuck open injector can not flow enough fuel to hydro lock a cylinder unless the entire tip breaks off. This is one of the rarest failure modes for the injector but it does happen.
With all that said, what size injectors are in a V10 stock. I have a programmer and a lot of other mods to my truck. But no one around can tell me what would be the best size and make to upgrade my injectors to.
