you can have 12.6 volts on a bad battery. it is the amps that decide what the status is. thats why batteries need to be load tested. a load test puts a 60 to 100 amp load on the batteries depending on the tester, twice. if the voltage drops below 10.5 volts for me its bad using the load tester.
Ok, mine is still reading round 13.1 or 13.2, it changes sometimes, the lowest reading was 13.0, but that only happened once and it hasn't happened again so I haven't worried about that one reading, I just wanted to know when it time to change them all what reading would be best.
BowTieHatr always has good advice, and again this time that is true.
I'm just curious though. Your profile shows you have an 06. Why would you be worried about your batteries already? Are you experiencing problems?
I hate being stuck with a dead battery just as much as the next guy, but I don't remember ever replacing a battery until it failed me. I've had some last 2 years and some last 10 years.
Obviously it is your truck, your money. But I wouldn't be worrying about batteries in 2006 truck.
I have had batteries fail me after a year and I have a volt gauge in my truck, constantly looking at the batteries. I'm just that way. Tires and batteries, I don't like to let either one get to far gone.
