cpr for cps???

cpr for cps???
My truck died the other day. I got it to start a couple times by clearing the codes and with alot of cranking, just to get it out of the home depot exit.
Anyway a buddy pulled me home. I took the cps out and cleaned it off.
seemed like alot of oil on it. put it back together. and seems to run just fine.
I'm to scared to go any where till my spare comes from ebay. 59.00 to the door.
Any thoughts, on what brought it back from the dead. bad connection? Also is there supposed to an O ring on the cps or does it just fit in real tight. thanks

There is an O-ring on the cps and it is real tight. It is exposed to oil in the crankcase. when they start to go sometimes it is very intermittant. While you are waiting on the spare check the connector for corrosion and the harness for any chaffed wires.
