I have been starting to get a vibration. You do not feel it at the steering wheel at all. I just put 285's on the truck but I am not sure if it was starting before or not. I had the rear tire rebalanced today. They were out 3oz on one side and 4 on the other.
Prior to today I replace the u-joint at the rear diff and new straps. This joint had one cap that was just starting to have a tight spot in it.
The isolater in the middle of the shaft seems to have some play but I do not know how much is allowed on this truck.
the other two joints seem to move freely so I left them for now.
The truck is a stock 01 F350 CC long bed. I replced the trans 25,000 miles ago with a Power Deamon that is built up and has a triple plate converter.
The truck has 100,000 on it now. All else is stock.
I am wondering if this could be caused by the converter or something in the trans since it happens mostly on decelration from 50 to 40 mph. But then tires can vib there too.
The symptem is almost like a slight hop from the rear.
I think I would check the pinion nut on the rear end. I had a similar experience and it turned out that the pinion was loose. Tightened it up and the vibration went away. They do have crush rings on them, so you need to check to see what torque it is supposed to be. Over tightening is worse than loose on the gears. Just a possibility.
Just repeating what I read in another post, but since yours is no longer the e40d might be the T/C clutch slipping... they said to change fluid and it should go away.
