is their a way to find out what ford exactly puts their cars through before they release it to the public? like how many miles the ford engineers drive the vehicles and the type of testing that ford does to their vehicles? if you could tell me where i need to look for this type of information i would greatly appreciate it!
Or are you refering to what Ford does to it's prototypes before they go into production? If so it's a lot more. Well over 100k miles, crash tests, emissions tests and various durability tests.
Well - it can vary on the size of the program and how many new parts they have in it.
Anything from 500,000miles to about 2.5million miles is the norm before cars get handed over to customers.
As for the type of testing - well you are entering a WHOLE new ball game. And I couldn't even put into the 10,000 character limit a vague description of some of the tests.
Essentially all the tests are to simulate what a customer could/would do with thier vehicle... within reasonable circumstances - like they aren't going to trailer test a Focus with 10k lbs.
And also they take this a step further, so that if something does fail due to "overuse" it is something that is not hugely compromising to the safety of the passengers.
