I have no personal doubts that extraterrestrials exist. Now why they would come out here to this jerkwater end of this Galaxy is beyond me.

Ah, yes and "ordinary for whom". I sometimes forget I have worked in those "secret" government research labs and read widely in a misguided attempt to keep up with the times. Many of the things I have worked on or see as ordinary would be real "Magic" to some other individuals.

Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.

I simply don't know. As far as I know there's no proof or evidence in either way, but it is assumed that we're not the only intelligent and technologically advanced life form in the universe.

Given the number of other stars and systems, just in the Milky Way, that's a very good question.
