Going to go look at a used 05 CC V10 hopefully tomorrow, can you guys give me a heads up or a shopping list persay as to what I need to look for or things to inspect on this beast.
Thanks
With VIN in hand...go visit a ford dealer (unless that is where the SD is) and get a FORD Oasis Report. This shows the history of the SD for warranty and TSDs performed. I would also purchase a CarFax...just as a pre-caution.
If selling via private seller...ask about maintenance records...Other than that...these V10's (SD's) are pretty much bullitt proof!
if possible get it up on a rack and look under for signs of abuse or a big hit that car fax didn't pick up on. check the brakes. abnormal wear on the tires, spin the rims looking for bent ones.
maybe you can find a dealer or shop who will do a safty check for free or for a half hour of labor. just might be a good $ spent for you safty
truck is at a dealership, one ive never done buisness with and is out of town.
I know some have said that there were spark plug issues at one time with these, anything that you can see from looking in the engine compartment for a tell tale sign?
Cap- im not much of a car/truck guy. some stuff i know like changing oil, filters. But what are some signs of a truck that was hit. Saftey check would be good, not sure if they would let me bring it back to my local shop for inspection.
How do I know if it has limited slip, and what gears?

No issues with the '05+ V10 3v with spark plug blow out. That really stopped back in late '00 and early '01...on the V10 2v.

Check the VIN sticker in the driver door. Here is a link to the SD forum and the FAQ decoder. Scroll and you will see the codes for axle ratio and LS.
if it's at a dealer many will do a lift up to let the customer see under it. you want to look for signs of bent metal , poor repainting. the tires for cupping or rough edges. shocks wet with oil on the out side. thickness of the brakes and high /low spots on the rotors which can mean warped rotors or bad pads.
whenit 's up look at the tag under the bolts holding the rear end cover on. first 2 numbers will be 10 or 30 meaning 4:10 a 30 will mean 4:30. if it has a letter L behind the number it has a limited slip. 105 behind the first 2 numbers tell s you it's a ford 10.5 inch. you just need the first ones. the rear axle gear ratio can also be found one the drivers door sticker.
standard gear ratio in the 05 up is 4:10 optional is 4;30
don't be afraid to ask for more help if you deam you need it. these guys are up on these trucks big time with some knowing more then some of the younger dealer techs. in fte we are luckie to have several real pro dealer techs helping out also. fortyfords and racerguy and many more.
Ok thanks guys, I did one of those free carfax checks and it said 5 records found. But I guess if you want to know more you gotta buy a full report. My biggest worry is the mechanical, being hit issue. Not sure if i could spot those.
On the rotors they gotta take off the tires to see what your talking about right? Like I said im not mechically inclined.
Another question.. if it doesnt have the power pedals option, can you put them in after the fact?
Well the girlfriend wanted to do some Christmas shopping tomorrow. So I guess I got a good excuse to make a side trip to go check this thing out. Mannnn is she gonna be P.Oed....hehehe
Well sorry for the delay on getting back to this truck.. Got busy at work again...
Anyway went on 11/30 to look at it and for the most part it was the perfect truck. All options I was looking for in a truck plus more.
Then the excitement ended. All tires were just about bald, 1 front rim was replaced with what looked like the spare rim. Salesman saw me looking at it, pushed the keybob several times on his way out the door but the doors wouldnt open with the keybob. When he got to the truck he just used the key in the door, and because the light didnt come on inside realized that the battery was either dead or unhooked. We popped the hood and the battery was in it, but for the life of me I couldnt figure out why the airfilter box was opened up and the filter missing, neither could he.
Got to looking inside the truck and noticed that the inside rails that the seats sit on were both rusted pretty good, however only on the inside ones next to the center console. The outside ones looked used but not so rusted. It has a Sunroof, the only thing I can come up with is that maybe who ever had it left the sunroof open and it rained in a rusted up the rails.
The interesting part is that I asked for a Oasis from the dealer and there are basically two entries.

i would think that it would be a good thing bro...its gotta new trannie...tell the dealer to get everything fixed on it if they want you to buy it...new seat rails, battery, key thingymabobber....etc etc etc
Sounds like a pig to me. I personally would RUN away from it. Already all kinds of ????? about things you can see. I guarantee that there are a number of problems that you can't see.
Sounds like a flood vehicle to me. One of the first things they teach auto adjusters to look for in a flood vehicle is to check for a wet air filter (I realize it's been a while since Katrina), so where is it? Why was the tranny replaced and why is there rust inside??? Sounds like if the engine didn't injest enough water to be damaged, maybe other things did. I don't see where you live, but maybe it's a Katrina vehicle (many of the vehicles were being shipped to other states to hide the fact they are flood vehicles)?
