Unhappy sticking ignition

help, most times that i park my truck for the night, the ignition will lock and is a proper bitch to turn in the morning.I have found that the steering wheel is still free and not locked when i pull my key out.I must put my key in ignition and turn the steering wheel till it locks, and then turn the wheel slightly further to get the key to release and turn for start up.This is a new 2006 ps lariat.First the chrome now this. All minor problems but still a pain in the ***.

My 05 did the same thing a little after i bought it as well. Just give it a few months and it will go away just have to give it some break in time. Ford techs at the dealership will tell you the same thing i did or the great excuse that they can't duplicate the problem.

if your key is not wanting to turn, either a tumbler is not completly dropping with the key inserted, or there is an issue with the key. go to your dealer and get a key cut by the vin code and that will rule out the key. if the new key still does this, then it is in the cylinder somewhere.

If your having the same problem i was (if you want it to call it a problem) all you had to do is put a little pressure on turning the key then just bump the steering wheel (little, if no effort). I asked the tech at the ford dealership to change my mechanism and he said that is the last step for them. The first thing they do is spray a silicone lubricant in there and then turn the ignition on and off from locked to full ignition turning the steering wheel until it locks each time. They do this numerous times until they work in to commission and then they tell you its fixed.

people like that make me have a bad name. key cylinders are to easy to **** people off. they are either right or not and you can see it very easily if you give a poopie.

thanks gentelmen for the replys.I will try to spray it and see if that helps.I was just alittle scared is all, because when you have to go to work and it is -30c outside you dont have time to mess with it.That time is better used warming the truck up,if you can get the key to turn.I think it is also in the locking mechanism. If i apply a little pressure to the wheel after it locks the ignition will turn freely.
