help my gauges quit working
Hi everybody,I got in my 79 f250 today and started the truck and i noticed my fuel and oil pressure gauges where not working.Both the needles were pinned to the far left position and never moved.I drove around all day and nothing PS my odometer and speedometer are working fine and my temp gauge has never worked since I bought the truck years ago (have a seperate gauge under dash) and everything else horn,wipers etc... are working.Any clues or experience Thanks

Torque1st I'm not sure what your getting at.I looked over what you said to read 1st.Are you suggesting the topic has been covered and is somewhere in the READ 1ST and I need to look further or am I breaking forum protocol in some way with my help question

The problem is prabably the Instrument cluster voltage regulator.
Go to the temp sending unit connector and attach a test light to it.
Turn the key to on,
There should be a pulsing 5 volts present.
If not go to the oil pressure sending unit and do the same test .
If again no light flashing..the ICVR needs replacing or the harness is damaged.
To replace the ICVR (called IVR in illustration) you have to remove the cluster,.

Try jiggling the key in the ignition switch while the truck is running. One of my trucks is like that. You start it up and theres not gauges but after a little jiggling its fine. Its like the switch is worn out and the dash doesnt get any juice.
