What is "auto-stick"? Is that where it's an automatic but you can push the shifter up and down in D to select gears?

Yeah, it's Chrysler's trademarked name for that feature. The one I drove was hit the lever left and right to shift, rather than up down, but same idea.

Also know as a Powershift in some circles. It's been around since the early 1960's Basicly it's a manual transmission that you don't have to use the clutch to shift.

Auto-stick is not a manual transmission that you can shift without the clutch, it's an automatic you can shift manually. There is a difference between the two.

*The link doesn't work. When the error page loads, just delete the square bracket from the end of the URL and it works.

Ok that's what I thought it was. Over the summer I had a rented Jeep Cherokee that had that...worked ok as far as I could tell, had the left-right + or - a gear shifting thing.

Thanks for the clarification.

you can get a manual valve body with a reverse pattern for an auto tranny to make it an manually shifted auto. It would be P-R-N-1-2-3-D.

hmm daily driver, tough question. How about a Powerstroke fully loaded with nitrous, propane, chip, exhaust, tranny upgrade, and a wvo system. Itd be fast and cheap on the gas with the wvo

Setting phasers to Dorkify. . .

A small gas thrifty moped or similar. . .I'd be all about saving money for my weekend toys Shoot, if I could manage to live in an area where everything was in walking/biking distance I'd go that route

Oh yeah, you get dork points for that.

I think gas is irrelevant in this thread. God I hope so, considering some of the choices we made.

Gas costs weren't ignored in my response to the thread, and I don't think they should be.

Now, if we were talking "fun" cars, or hot rods, or projects, then yes, but not if we're talking daily drivers.

*If fuel costs aren't factored in, I'd take a 2002 F-350 XLT extended cab, 7.3 with the 6-speed, 4x4 and a long bed.

Oh...well if fuel costs are factored in...I like my Ranger, I'd just like a 302 instead.

Well if we aren't considering fuel costs I'll change my choice to a ford GT.
