The 6V batt was replaced with an 8V in my '52 F1 before I purchased it. I'm wondering if I can use my 12V charger on it??? Will it hurt anything?? otherwise, where would a guy find an 8 volt charger??
Having owned too many tractors to remember..... What I still use is a 10 Ohm 200 Watt adjustable wire wound resistor to reduce the voltage to a safe level. Adjust the slider contact so that the charging current is within the same range as a 12V battery. Ive about 40 years on that same resistor and its at least WW2 surplus when I got it. New ones are about $15 at www.mouser.com
Old timey chargers didnt have a lot of solid state fancy stuff, you could use a Variac in the primary to reduce the input voltage.
Farmers are probably the cheapest human species known and wiring in a light socket in series with the AC line and experimenting with different wattage bulbs is a time honored tradition.
The above are 3 options, Im sure there are lots more.
