03 explorer wont start

03 explorer wont start
I have a 03 explorer that won't start.The other day it died and refired after 15 min. and been running fine since,but last night it died again and won't restart.The fuel pump is coming on and has fuel pres. to the intake.Was wondering about a cam position sensor.Any ideas will be great.

Does it feel like it's trying to start?
If so, try unplugging the Mass Air Flow.. if it starts then, remove the sensor and look for a broken element or debris stuck to it... most of the time you can just clean it off real well.
Other than that there's really nothing common on these that can cause a no-start... try borrowing a scanner and see if there are any codes stored.. if so report them here maybe we can help you out more.

Ok i hooked up scanner (telstar) and found nothing. No codes and everything passed on test. And now it started up and runs fine. I was wondering about the pick-up bye the harmonic balancer.

It would set a code if it was losing a cam or crank sensor signal.
Also next time it won't start, try holding the gas pedal down about 10% of the way and see if it starts then.. might be an idle control motor problem.
Did it die on you while accelerating? or decelerating? or while sitting at a light...?

It was siting in the driveway.Started it up and died and wouldnt start back tues.or wed. tried it sat. and it started and been running fine since. So i guess i will wait till it dies again.
