Rear Axle???
My 52 F-4 has a Split Housing Sprial Bevel type rear axle with 5.14:1 ratio.
Question 1. What is the diameter of the ring gear? (9 inch, 10 inch, etc.)
Question 2. Has anybody converted one of these rear ends to a limited slip type, using, of course, the original axle housing, gears, etc??

Good Luck! Thats the same case and ratio in my 54 F350. There were some ratios made in the 4's according to my 48-55 Parts manual but forget about adapting anything modern inside.
Best bet is to measure what you have and hit a truck boneyard. The Dana 60 series was very popular in F250/350 pickups and vans and had stick shift and automatic ratios available along with posi. Mid 1960's thru late 80's at least.
There is a standard and HD dana 60, the difference is in the axle tube diameter.
Adapting is usually just a matter of moving spring perches and using the new wheel pattern.
