Need some formula's

Hello I need some formulas for a math project I'm doing and I figured who better to ask then the FTE family. I need formulas to:
-Convert miles to kms
-Calculate fuel millage
-and other mathmatical formulas that could be used for explaining all the math in a road trip.

Thanks, Bob

This should set you up with everything you need and then some. I use it at work all the time:

http://www.onlineconversion.com/

Or, were you looking for the specific details? For example:

Using a watch that measures seconds, keep the car at a constant speed, say 70 MPH by the speedometer. Measure the time in seconds between mile markers. Use a calculator to get a calculated mph:

...........# miles............ 3600 seconds
mph = -------------- x -------------
...........Total seconds .......hour

Usually you only time it for 1 mile but sometimes a mile marker is missing and you will find that you will time your travel over two or three miles. So make sure you plug it in right. But in other words for 1 mile:

.............3600
mph = ------------------
..............Total seconds

How close to 70 mph did you get? Try other speeds.
