I have recently begun to detect a vibration coming through the steering wheel on my 1995 F350. Its 4 wheel drive. It has brand new tires, just got an alignment, balance and rotation. The vibrating comes during acceleration at a a descent amount, but as I break its the worse. But its really noticibale while going from say 35 mph, to 50 mph. And past 65mph theres a real heavy vibration. I have a feeling its the rotors.. They prob need to be turned or replaced, the brakes are real good, but what do you guys think. U-bolts are brand new as well.
Hi,
I have seen this problem alot, especially when I was working for the local ford dealer. It is your rotors. They are probably warped. See if you can turn them or if you have to replace them. If they are relatively new and haven't been turned much, they should be turnable. The new f-150's are miserable with this. i saw alot of them with bad rotors, even the brand new ones.
Its so annoying, there about 6 months old. I guess its time to just replace them. Really dont want to have them turned if all that is going to happen a month later is the same thing. Is it worth it to have them replaced? Wont all this vibrating lead to other damage to other componets over time? I am guy that really enjoys a smooth ride, so I feel I should I just change them all out.
Would the same diagnosis apply to a 97 Exp 4x4? I've had persistent vibration problems for a while (only 85k miles w/ original rotors, new pads about 20k ago). Had fun getting new Goodyear Wrangers balanced (after 3 re-do's by the tire dealer and then a Ford dealer.) Got 90% of it out, but there's still some shakes at highway speeds.
