Fuel Gauge

I'm having a problem with my 1986 F250 Fuel Gauge. Whenever I fill up my tank the hand never goes to full until after I have driven for about 15-20 minutes. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Possibly a worn out fuel level sender..... had any problems with running out of fuel at 1/4 tank yet.

Thank god I haven't ran out of gas yet but it would be nice to have it working properly.

The rheostat in the fuel sender wears out, mine doesn't work below 1/4 tank but it wasn't worth replacing.

Yeah, mine are both kinda screwy too. I ran on the rear tank until the guage showed it completely EMPTY (I was afraid to go any farther - didn't want to run it dry).

Switched to the front tank and drove it several days until the front one read just over 1/8 tank. Went to fill them up and they both held almost exactly the same amount - 12 gallons flat.
So either I have some weird sized tanks - 15 gallon front and 12 gallon rear - or my senders are both a little funky....
