oil weight to use Suggestions?, on my EX it has 78K on it the last oil change the dealer used motorcraft oil but it doesnt say what weight i am taking it to get an oil change , should i take it to the dealer or like a regular shop..? and what weight and brand do you guys use?? thanks
For '01 I believe it is 5W30. Look on the top of the oil dipsitck.
I use Motorcraft oil in the SD and Chevron Supreme in the wife's Honda.
BTW a V10 is 6.8L
it's is a 2001 v10 7.8L Gas engine that i have in the excursion... i heard 5w10 is what they use?? is this true??
If you live in North Dakota in winter you might need 5w10. But I would use and do use 10w30 year round. IMO the 10w30 provides a little more valve train protection than the 5w30. You might just the truck documentation for recommended weights.
