Question Oil Weight Suggestions..

oil weight to use Suggestions?, on my EX it has 78K on it the last oil change the dealer used motorcraft oil but it doesnt say what weight i am taking it to get an oil change , should i take it to the dealer or like a regular shop..? and what weight and brand do you guys use?? thanks

i did forget to mention my engine..

it's is a 2001 v10 7.8L Gas engine that i have in the excursion... i heard 5w10 is what they use?? is this true??

For '01 I believe it is 5W30. Look on the top of the oil dipsitck.
I use Motorcraft oil in the SD and Chevron Supreme in the wife's Honda.
BTW a V10 is 6.8L

As bryyce62 said, 5W-30 is spec for your year but was superceded a few years back by 5W-20. Either one will suffice.

If you live in North Dakota in winter you might need 5w10. But I would use and do use 10w30 year round. IMO the 10w30 provides a little more valve train protection than the 5w30. You might just the truck documentation for recommended weights.

PS.. I use Rotella 10w30 Jim
