Dratted check engine light!
C/E light came on,read codes,fixed leaking elbow for the EGR,light stayed off for 2 days,read codes,lean left and right again.What else do I need to check.The friend leading the expedition says to not worry about the light....the little voice in my head says to ask FTE.

P.S. Guess it would help to say this is on a '98 F-150 with a 4.2.

IF your EGR system is setting codes, it could be the throttle position sensor for EGR and/or the control valve for the EGR valve. It took my mechanic several days of "on & off" fiddling around to diagnose the problem. These 2 components work together to control the function of the EGR valve. On my work order, these 2 components are called "dpfe sensor" and "egr regulating valve".
