Is there a kit that convers the window/vent window into 1 solid glass....I know they make one for the 67-72 Chevrolet trucks but I'm wanting one for my 66 F-100
Have you called Sacramento Vintage Ford? They have one piece window kits for the 1948-1960 trucks. I could be wrong but they may have an idea for you. I know the window regulator is deffinently in the way on 64 doors. Maybe with the installation of power windows and aftermarket door hinges it wont be a problem. Just a thought.
I have been kicking around the idea of fabbing one of these newer electric controlled mirrors on the front edge of the opening. That will give a better rear view and deal with the hinge issue at the same time.
The little round mirrors don't offer a lot of rear view.
Welcome: Not sure if what you are looking for, came across couple articles in truck magazine; installing one-piece power window, and the other was on the power window conversions. The articles are 'how to' and consist of series of pictures explaining the step and may be helpful; unfortunately, they were on bowtie trucks and there are limits. The articles were in 'classic truck magazine' and can be seen in their 'tech' forum. Suggest checking out their list of referral sources in the articles and see if any help. Can paste and copy articles if unable to locate. Couple of sources in article posted below and may be of some help.
Dave, Unless I read it different from you, he asked about removing the wing/vent window and the big roll up glass and replacing it with a one piece glass, electric powered.
While this may be an option for brand X trucks and other year models of Ford trucks, it is not possiable to do with 61-66 Ford trucks because of the configuration of the hinges.
Come up with a resolution and you could become a wealthy man. IMHO
John, you are right, have seen number of the single window conversions on the earlier models, 48-60 Ford trucks. Not that familiar with the differences between window regulators to the later models, 61-66 Ford trucks, which probably explains why do not find to many with the single window. Propably more involved but have come seen the 61-66 single window conversions, particularly at car shows, as usual, did not think about discussisng with owner at the time. Probably would require signing a disclaimer that I would not disclose type truck the regulator mechanism came out of. Anyhow, as far as becoming wealthy, think I'll try taking a short cut and ask the owner of the 66 noted below where his vent window went.
I'll be dipped, did you look at #2 and 7 on the first link? I have been in some detailed discussions over the years about using a mirror down that corner. I even bought a set of SD electric mirrors three years or so ago but never did anything with it.
