A friend of mine just went thru a fairly traumatic experience. His 2002 7.3L PSD slowly died during a trip towing his fiver. It eventually died completely before he could get to a town and he had to be towed in.
The culprit was a plugged Exhaust Back Pressure Sensor and the line serving it that comes off the exhaust.

He has decided to carry a spare sensor, right next to his spare CPS, so I told him I would check with a bunch of experts I know about where to get one.
Can these be purchased from International or are they a dealer only item?
Are they available on E-Bay?

 

ford obviously has them but international usually sells them cheaper. i have seen them on ebay before but i also havent looked much

the steel line is very easy to clean. i have cleaned mine before and the sensor can probably be easily and carefully scraped out. if not the sensors are cheap on ebay.

there is also a "SD DONGLE" or something like that... its a mod that plugs into the snesor and wiring for those that leave them unplugged so the cel light stays off.
