I have an 04 CC and find that it takes forever to get the rear windows to defrost. I also plow in the winter and it seems to be impossible to keep the rear windows clear at all. Have any of you come up with any creative ways to cure this.
I am thinking about some kind of small electric heater mounted in the rear but it is only an idea at this point.
There are small "ceramic heater" type units at Advance Auto and likely other parts stores as well in the $15-20 range. They plug into a lighter socket and might be a quick cheap fix. I think it even has suction cup mount to put it right on the window. On line try JC Whitney or any other major acessory supplier.
when you get in your truck with snowy boots try to knock off as much as you can, the more snow inside the worse that the winows get. if you have a rear slider try keeping it opened a little. if it snows alot and keeps snowing i have a hard time keeping my rear windows clear, but since i have a extended cab i can reach back and wipe the windows down. try the heater idea, seems like it might help and i have thought about the same thing a couple of times. good luck. also keeping your defrost in hi will remove moisture faster. you could try switch to A/C with the heat on, that might help alittle.
Thanks 04, Yeah I do try to clean my boots. The Crew Cab is a bitch, I have plowed in smaller trucks and it was much easier as far as fogging. I was hoping to find some kind of heater with a blower that I could direct towards the window.
I snowplow with my crew cab and have the same problem. I but an oscilaing fan 12v in the back and it helps a lot. I clamp it to the grab handle in the back seat.
