The front end is pretty easy, particularly on the 48-52's. The rear end is a bit more work since you will want to build a cage for it but even that is not really all that bad. You also have to box quite a bit more of the frame.
Just be sure they are the right years and model, you DON'T want an XKE (except to resell the rear to hot rodders or Jag restorers) for example. The links to uncage the rear, swap other gear ratios etc are readily available from aftermarket sources. The rear is useable as is with just simple mounts needing to be fabricated but most remove the rather bulky cage for asthetic reasons. There's a lots of bling points in being able to see all the moving parts, and without the OEM cage it's a pretty trim unit.
