apparent intermittent vacuum pump failure
My dad's 84 F250 seems to have an intermittent failure. The pump is new, but it seems like it cuts out every so often. The light comes on, brakes go hard, then the light goes out, and good assist. Is there a check valve or such on the pump that would do this? I'm used to either it works or it doesn't, haven't seen one behave like that...

No coffee can, no factory air or cruise, basic stripped down version. Go ahead and fire off an email if you can get it through the system,. If not, I'll send it to you so you can go direct.

Dunno' about the vacuum pump, but I'm pretty certain there is a check valve in the brake booster. Kinda sounds like maybe the booster is leaking - either the check valve, the vacuum line, or the diaphragm.
