I have the oppritunity to buy a set of Intro billet wheels. (introwheels.com) (the "Pentia") they will look fantastic on my truck. Anyhow, I took one home just to double check backspacing, offset, lug pattern, etc..Turns out I am not 5x4 1/2" like I thought, but 5x4 1/4"..The wheels are 5x 4 1/2".At the price offered to me on the wheels, I am looking at the possiblity of buying some adapters for about 200$ a set of 4. Looks like I'll also have to change studs on both axles and rotors, as mine are only 1". Oh, and new tires of course. Anyone have experience with adapters? I know to stay away from the cheap oriental ones.
Are you sure you have a 4.25" bolt circle? I've not heard of that size on Ford trucks or full size cars. What front suspension and rearend are you running? As far as the adapters you will probably get opinions both pro and con. Make sure they are high quality and check them periodically.
Sounds like you might be measuring wrong; it's from the far edge of one stud to the center of the third one. It doesn't sound normal at first, but that's the way.
Guys, I've got a Ford 9" rear with drums, and a 79 Cordoba front clip w/ 11" discs. I think I measured from the top edge of a hole (on the wheel) down to the top edge of a hole 2 holes down. Not to the center. I will go to the garage and check the wheel again. I am now starting to think I have 4 3/4" Chevy wheels? Back in few...
Are you measuring the Ford 9" or the front? Unless someone ordered new axles or had the axle flanges redrilled the Ford will not be 4.75". I would try that new wheel both places to make sure you have the correct bolt pattern. If the new wheel is 5x4.5 then it should fit the Ford 9" unless the rearend has the 5" pattern.
