To start with when you first connect it usually says "Enhanced Powertrain" check the drop down and see all of the other systems you can look at. If you are not looking for a problem just "play" with it and get familiar with all of the sensors.
On the "Test Onboard Systems" tab run them all just to get familiar with them.
When you do the KOEO dont worry your truck is not about to explode.

Just got mine today also.
Alan, My OBD connector points straight down in front of the accel pedal. I would like to have the AE connected when I drive but the connector sticks down too far for safe driving. Did you move yours?

I drove mine around today with it pluged in, I just had the cord hooked around the transfercase lever. My boots are an 11 and I didnt come close to hitting the cable or connection. I must say what a great tool this is going to be, I didnt really get a chance to do much more then screw around with some of the features. Im about to go out now and data log some stuff.
