[updated:LAST EDITED ON 19-Apr-02 AT 01:30 PM (EST)]Well,
i just purchased a 1959 Ford F-100 and it has the original everything in it. i *think* it's an old 292 staight six, but i'm not sure. it's got 3 on the tree and i was told it could be a 223. How can i tell and what are good places i can go for little parts(like a spedometer cable) or would any cable work? i was also wondering about the front letters? and the bumper? all are in decent shape, but the are not pretty. i really don't want to get them re-chromed, because that'll cost so much. are there any good reproduction stores around? short of replacing it the glass is starting to milk up too. what can i do about the gas tank sitting with me in the cab. are there any relocator kits? because the rest of the vehicle is cosmetic work. i know i ask a lot of questions, but this is it to get her in shape.
Hey, I'm eric. I'm new to this forum. I have a '58 f-100. I think I have a 223. The only two inlines that I can find listed for 48-60 are the 223 and the 262. I really don't know how id your particular motor.
Try these guys. They have alot of stuff for the old inlines and would probably know.

hope it helps
Dentless you have a 223 the 292 six cyl. is a brand X Ford 292s were V8s. The letters in the hood I think are polished and not chromed they were painted the body color on my 59 but I can't varify if that was stock. Good luck, Rich.
