Technically, when the rod bolts are replaced the rods should be resized. This of course requires complete disassembly of the engine. This might be a little iffy but should work in a pinch. I would try to carefully remove the broken bolt (without damaging the rod journal on the crank) and insert a new bolt, pulling it into place with the nut.

I've changed out a whole set with an assembled 5.0. Stock bolts to ARP's. Works fine without resizing the rod. I don't think I'd try it with stock bolts, you need to torque the bolt a couple times to get it seated all the way into the rod. Stock bolts are not very strong, as you've already found out. They've always been the weak link in a 302.

Were you able to measure the roundness of the rod afterwards?

No. But I ran this engine daily, with "freeway blasts" up to 6500 rpms for well over a year. Then swapped heads, intakes and lifters and ran it another 4 months with blasts to 7500 rpms almost daily before it cracked a cylinder wall. The rotating assembly held up fine. It would have gone longer had that one cylinder wall not cracked and leaked coolant into the oil. This wasn't a high dollar short block either, the short block was built by City Motor Supply in Dallas Tx. Cost me $350 (exchange) Bored 40 over and had Silvolite Hypereutectic pistons.
