frost plug help!

frost plug help!

im new to the site. my dad just gave me his 97 ford f150. it looks great but sat most of the winter and the summer. the problem is that i just found out today that it has blown a frost plug near the number 5 spark plug. i took it around the block and it motor works fine. its a 6 cylinder and i would like some help on how to go about fixing it. thanks

you call it a frost plug I think it might be a freeze plug. they are designed to push out when the coolant freezes but dont alway prevent block damage if it is out then you have no or little coolant dont drive or even start the engine you will cause more damage. if you are lucky and nothing is broken then have a machanic fix it they are hard to fix and get at its just cheaper and you dont want to be driving and have it pop out again if you do try to put one in there are some that you place in the hole then turn a nut and the rubber will expand but again a mechanic with experience and a lift is the best route even for a good shadetree
