hey,
well i have a 2006 F350 diesel. It only has about 1000 miles on it and already my turbo charger is having problems. When i pull a hill sometimes the thurbo charger will make a "loud" almost grinding noise. It sounds like it is winding down but louder also my truck will lose power dramiticaly and start to buck a little. Is any one else having this problem?
it sounds to me you are having an issue with "lot rot". its where the turbo rusts from sitting around to much. you would be better off to go ahead and take it in so you will have a better truck.
I have had the dealer install three turbo from rust as well as 4 EGR valves in the last 35,000 All under warrentee There seems to be a problem in the system that may be why Ford scrapped the 6.0
Dude, Ford did not "scrap" the 6.0, the new 6.4 is basically the same bottom end with a larger bore. Heads were redesigned do to new pizzo injection system, and a VV Turbo is still being used, along with more than one EGR valve.
I posted a response to your post in the other thread. Please give us more info on your truck, Year, model, tuned/stock etc.
If you let your truck sit alot or only take short trips, this is very hard on a diesel and especially the new diesels with all the changes to meet more stringent emissions requirements.
I run 25 each way to work and about once a month pull a utility trailer to NC (moving) about 750 miles but it is less than 3000 pounds in it. The turbos fail when I tow however I pulled them with friends 2005 6.0 with not a problem In fact when it broke down in NC he came and pulled trailer to new home with out a problem. It is a 2004 Lariat F250 Crewcab with 8 ft Bed and 4X4 Off road package. I have 36,848 miles on it . Got it new at Nye Ford. The dealer has been helpful but I need a vehicle I can depend on. Had to use 4 days vacation and about 300.00 on rentacars to recover truck when it left me strainded. The truck is as Ford provided and all scheduled maintenance done at dealer including all filters.
