Could be any number of things. Are you on hard pavement or loose dirt? Check your u-joints on your drive line. Could be jumping chain in T-case. A little more info would sure help. Is it coming from front end or ?

Well as far as I know you shouldn't run your 4x4 on pavement with it locked in. The 4x4 need to slip especially when turning corners. The banging could be one of your front hubs letting go then locking back in or it could be in the front diff.
