Stuck lugs

I'm a new guy here, and could use some help. I have a '47 1 ton, and have considered rebuilding the original brakes, putting a disc conversion kit on, or some combination.

The problem I'm currently experiencing is stuck lugnuts. I have tried WD40, liquid wrench, heating with a blow torch, etc., and I can't seem to get them loose.

I'm considering cutting the lugs off, or splitting the lugnuts - but since I can't seem to find the parts for a 1 ton truck (the lugnuts are 1 1/8" hex). I hate to make the 'brake decision' based on my inability to get the lugnuts off.....

Any help would be appreciated.

There was a post with a similar condition.
The suggestion was given to take the truck to a service provider that deals with large trucks- they may have to break the lugs loose with a 1 inch impact gun.
This may cost you a few bucks, but it beats getting hurt.
Try using a higher grade penetrating oil- it sounds like rust seize.
Anyway you have your work cut out for you, take your time with your new brakes and all new wheel studs.

pyleofsteele, I think they may be reverse thread on the drivers side. I don't have my '47 1 ton near me (in storage right now) so I can't say for sure, but I think they do use reverse thread on one side.

Thanks! A friend of mine suggested reverse threads about a week ago - the first time I tried, and they wouldn't budge. I did try to loosen them with my impact wrench in a reverse direction a couple of times through the week but with no luck.

Finally, with your suggestion, I decided to go for broke and used a cheater bar on the end of my ratchet. I guess the week of penetrating oil did the trick - 'cause they're now off - yippee!

Thanks so much. Now I need to figure out how to get the drums off.....?
