Ford excape.
Hello,
I was looking for a Ford excape Hybrid 2006 yesterday.It is used with 30,000 miles.What I want to know is it a good suv,what is the gas milage.And the most important.....How long does the batteries last,are they under warrenty.....And how much does it cost to replace them in dollars,and where would a person buy the replacments. I know ford will want 20 times more than the real cost.

Ok... there are two batteries... the normal, everyday 12V battery under the hood.. and the batter pack under the cargo floor in the rear.
The 12V is just a regular battery, available at any parts store.. but as far as the battery pack goes, it IS available ONLY from ford and is a VERY high voltage battery (400+volts if I remember correctly), and VERY expensive - several thousand dollars... upwards of 10,000 on some hybrids.
Fortunately the high voltage battery comes with a 10year/100,000 mile warranty, I believe (correct me if I'm wrong)... being that it's designed to be constantly recharged, it will last a long long time, possibly outliving the vehicle.
As far as gas mileage... don't expect anything fantastic... 30-35 city, 25-30 highway.

Thank you.I was told 40 miles to the gallon.And the battery pack will last for 20 + years.But I never listen to what the warrenty says any way.The dealer always says it wear and tear.......Thanks I will not buy it.Sounds like trouble to me.
