Transmission problem?

Transmission problem?

I have a 2001 Ford Ranger, when I put the truck in drive it takes it about 20-30 minutes before it will move forward. Once the truck gets going it is fine. I have no problem backing up, just making it go forward in drive. After I drive it a while and stop it will then take about 10-15 minutes before it goes forward.

Any idea's on what could be the problem?

Then why the hell would you respond and make him check just to see a "dont know"?
Most retarded thing ive seen all day.

Johnn, 20-30 MINUTES? You sit there for half an hour waiting for drive to engage?
There is something seriously wrong with your tranny. Check the fluid, report back with the color, burnt smell?, quanity etc.

What engine? how many miles, etc... more info wouldnt hurt...

20-30 seconds maybe?

I'm wondering if you have a solenoid sticking...

Does it drive fine once it engages?

First of all welcome to FTE,
I suppose you have an auto tranny, correct?
Make sure you include all you truck info tranny,engine,mileage,etc.
Any be detailed in your explaination of your problems.
We can only guess with a few sentences, and not seeing the truck.
Also post this in the tranny forum you may get your answer there too.
You might need an inspection and/or a servicing to locate the problem.
But try to get a better grasp of the situation here first, before going to the transmission shop. You will be better off knowing what you need before shelling out the money.
If I need to take my trucks in, I pretty much tell the techs what the problem is and what needs fixing. Your knowledge of your truck will let the techs know you did some homework.
I had to take my 99 auto Ranger in for a tranny service, It was expensive but worth it.

I have a 94 F-150 4x4 EO4. what port is the one that controls the total lock on the torque converter? When truck is warm, and come to a stop the truck stops then jumps a little and dies. even as soon as u put it in reverse. act like a manuel when u let out the clutch and foot on the brake.
