I have a 2004 F-350, Crew Cab, 6.0L Diesel, and just recently recieved a Diablo Sport Tuner. It is the older one that I have updated to the latest program. My pick-up runs ok after you get it going, but it has no grunt from the start. After you step on it, it takes about 3 seconds for it to start moving. Is there any way to help diminish this turbo lag? I thought the tuner would help, but it does absolutly nothing for the lag.
I would think that turbo lag is a function of how fast the exhaust flows. A tuner won't correct turbo lag. Have you checked for cracks, bad gaskets, or leaks in the exhaust system? Have you checked the turbine vanes in the turbo? They may have been damaged or are worn down somehow.
I have looked over the engine compartment visually, and do not see any signs of leaks. Also, the turbo is brand new, as the old one went bad and was replaced under warrantee just a couple of months ago.
With any tuner the stock exhaust is a restrictive choke point ....
While I too would recommend an xCal2, the predator woke up my 03 Ex 6.0L quite well...
I think to the tune of 376HP or something like that....
turbo lag though is turbo lag.... the sct makes mine minimal, but if you REALLY need to squirt out into traffic, left foot the brake, bring the rpms up to about 1500 to 2000 just before you want to go and hang on...
even a stock truck will stun you... (practice on a back road first )
