EVAP and Catalytic Ready Codes

How in the world do you get the readiness codes for Evap and Catalytic systems to return to ready.
I just fixed the EGR system and following the driving instructions like "accelerate to 45 mph using 1/2 to 3/4 throttle three times" did the trick just fine for the EGR. But following the instructions for EVAP and Catalytic do nothing as far as I can tell. I have not had a code for either of those systems so I'm really not sure why they are even "not ready". I need to have those readiness codes cleared in order to pass the emissions test and renew my license plate this week.
Do I just need to drive it as usual and hope for the codes to heal themselves?
Thanks for any help anyone here can offer.

If i remember, Evap won't run it's tests unless it's a certain temp. outside. What is the temperature outside when your trying to get this to run? Generally where I'm from(Minnesota) I won't see Evap codes all winter because it doesn't get cold enough to run them. Don't know about the Cat readiness however.....

Update

Actually, I'm in East Atlanta, and this weekend the weather was around 60
ish.
After a 40 -50 mile drive both codes went "ready" and the next morning I had a successful emmision test. Sorry for not updating sooner, but I could not find this thread in order to do so. Hopefully the search feature will return in the near future and I'll update my other thread regarding the P0401 code that would not die!
Thanks for the responses.
