Is there a real answer to a p1351 code?
Is there a real answer to a p1351 code?
i have a 96 eb bronco with a 351. the MIL comes on after the second time being started after clearing the codes.
The code is p1351 (Ignition Diagnostic monitor circuit input malfunction)
i have searched these forums and many others and found that a lot of other people have been getting this code as well, but there isn't an answer to fixing it.
i have replace the pcm, icm, coil, distributer, cap ,rotor and plugs and checked all the wiring to the best of my ability. i have even tried running the groung wire from the alternator directly to the negative battery cable(don't know where i found that idea).
i was just hoping that someone out might know the secret to getting rid of this code.
thanks

Did you get a Ford icm? I had the same problem with my 96 when the icm went bad. Turns out the Ford parts catalog, and napa application is wrong, if they gave you a gray icm. The correct one should be black in color. After talking with a Ford enginer they figured this out, and my p1351 is gone. The black module is listed for a 4.9L engine, which is incorrect.
i have tried three different icm's (grey one from autozone, white one from carquest and a black one from ford) all of them seemed to work the same and still threw the code.
thanks for the reply!
i'm going to take it to work tomorrow and have one of the older and wiser techs look at it.
