If its any consulation, I quit smoking March 9th of this year. It has been rough but it is getting easier. I wish you all the luck in the world.
I don't know if this will help, but I have been informed that I have to go in on October 16th for surgery on my right lung. They are going to remove about 70% of it because of a syst that has developed from the emphazema I've had for about 5 years. I just don't want you to have to go through all this.
Nutter,
Congratulations! I wish you all the luck in the world too.
Jim,
I wish you all the luck in the world as well. My heart really goes out to you on this. I had to quit for the very same reasons as you did.
I've got one in each lung and was told they wanted to remove one whole lobe on one side, and the top quarter of the other side.
Luckily that's on hold for now. they decided to just monitor them very closely with CT scans for the time being. As for the emphysema, they told me there's nothing they can do.
Hang in there! My thoughts and prayers are with you all the way!

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 09-Nov-02 AT 03:44 PM (EST)]Nutter how are you? Jim and Kenney how are you also? I have smoked since high school. I am 54 now. What's gonna happen to me? I have to quit I just don't want too.
I quit March 9th of this year. I didn't want to, but I knew I had to. It wasn't easy either, however its all over and done with. I'm clean and I can control the urges now.
I had 60% of my right lung removed on Oct. 16th, and I am feeling pretty good now. I'm still in some pain, but its getting manageable now. The good Lord was with me this time, no Cancer. In another month or so I should be doing about a 100% as far as my recovery goes.
>What's gonna happen to me?
Well its hard to say, for some people, nothing. For others, it could mean surgery like mine. Or you could end up like my mother, she died of Cancer at the young age of 57. Its hard to say.
I don't want to offend anyone here, but if you ask me I'm going to tell you, you need to quit smoking. I didn't want to, I had to. I'm glad I did.
Beleave it or not I don't like to be around it now. Not that it tempts me or anything like that, I don't like the smell of it.
Sorry I didn't mean to rant, but thanks for listening.
