58 Assembly Date Codes

Anybody have the assembly date codes for the 1958 F-100s (like the ones for 61-66 at the bottom of the page at http://www.dreamwater.org/slick60s/vintag.html )? I'd like to know the assembly date of mine with VIN FC0J8K36809.

Thanks,

Mike Swatek

58 Assembly Date Codes

Hi Mike,
The date codes for '57-'60 are set up a little different than those for the '61-'66 where you can tell from the sequential production number.
To find out the assembly date on your '58, you have to look on your rating plate for the code labeled "Date". it can be found between "Model" and "Trans".

The numbers represent the day, and the letter that follows represents the month and year.
For example..........Date code 15P....(15 = 15th day), (P = February 1958).

Date codes:

First year......Second year......Month

A................N................January
B................P................February
C................Q................March
D................R................April
E................S................May
F................T................June
G................U................July
H................V................August
J................W................September
K................X................October
L................Y................November
M................Z................December

Hope this helps out.

Post 58 Assembly Date Codes

According the the Identification plate information I have in my John's F-Fun Hundreds catalog, the assembly date codes for the '58 are as follows:
J = Sep 57
K = Oct 57
L = Nov 57
M = Dec 57
N = Jan 58 (note: there is no "O" in the sequence)
P = Feb 58
Q = Mar 58
R = Apr 58
S = May 58
T = Jun 58
U = Jul 58
V = Aug 58
W = Sep 58
X = Oct 58
Y = Nov 58
Z = Dec 58

The assembly plant codes for the 58/60 are:
A-Atlanta; D-Dallas; G-Chicago; K-Kansas City; L-long Beach; H-Lorain; U-Louisville; E-Manwah; N-Norfolk; S-Pilot Plant; R-San Jose; and P- St.Paul.

If you need more, e-mail me at visalia6439(No Email Addresses In Posts!) or get a catalog from John's (714-563-F100).
Daryl

58 Assembly Date Codes

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 10-May-02 AT 05:32 AM (EST)]Forgot to mention in my earlier post that my 1958 date code stamped on by the factory in Kansas City is 8E. Suppose the folks there might have decided to restart the letter sequence at the beginning of the model year, instead of doing it like the rest of the plants.

58 Assembly Date Codes

Hi,
Unfortunately, the De-coder from John's F-fun hundreds is only partially accurate. It is missing some of the "earlier" codes. This is why it does not show an "E" for May. 1957-'60 date codes were the same at all plants. I scanned the picture below right out of the original Ford parts and accessories catalog. I hope this helps.

Mike, you are correct. Your truck was "born" on May 8th.
