problem with SCMT

problem with SCMT

I tried to re-tune my truck today, and keep getting a message that the vbatt is too low for programming, error code g-33. The truck batteries seem to be fine, the truck starts just fine and powers everything. What could be the problem?

take a test light and check to see if you have power on pin 16 of the dlc. it should be the bottom right pin. it should be the only pin with power. if no power, then check your fuses.

Make sure that ANYTHING that could drain amperage from the system is off during the download- headlights, blower motor, any accessories, ect. Also make sure the truck is hot- if it is cold, it is trying to fight the GPCM for power to the glow plugs.

Even with all the accesories(radio and air) off, it still wouldn't do it when the truck was cold. I drove my truck about 10 miles and stopped and tried again and it worked fine.

The GPCM draws 20 amps PER plug....thats alot of current load, and can have a quite negative effect on system voltage when the batteries are cold also. Glad that it worked for you.
