57 - 60 Front Bumpers

Here's a thread that explains the bumpers:

I held a '67-77 chrome bumper up to the front of my '59 with the original chrome custom cab bumper. The '67-77 is 5" or 6" wider than the original. It also does not curve back as much at the ends. If you do not mind that extra width on the '67-77, just redrill the holes, fill the extra holes with chrome bumper bolts and you are good to go. If you don't like the extra width, what you could do is cut 5" or 6" out if the center of '67-77 bumper behind the license plate. Either weld it and cover the seam in silver paint, or just butt it together and bolt a plate behind it. Either way the license plate would cover most of the seam.
Adios,

Oh, one other thing. The '57-58 front contour bumpers are the ones that look like they are mounted upside down. The '59-60 contour bumpers are the ones that look like the '67-77.

Brett

Just to clarify, there are actually 3 different styles of front bumpers for the '57-'60 era.
'57-'58 "Channel type"
'57-'58 "Contour type"
'59-'60 "Contour type"
That cleared it up. I knew that if I asked I could count on a answer. The amount of expierence here is incredible. I think I like the weld and hide it with a tag idea. Now I need to see one of the 67 - 77 bumpers.
