Humm..... another tuner question....

Alright guys, i'm finally looking to get a tuner (can't afford a custom chip right now, will get one in the future plus like the ability to scan for codes)

It looks like i have a choise between Superchips and Edge.
I usually don't drive my truck to hard, and will most likely have it on the middle setting most of the time. I would like to see an increase in MPG (if I stay out of the throttle...) and hopefully chance the feel of the GO-pedal.
What do you recomend? also, where is a place I can find one online at a reasonable price?

Thanks

Robb

Why can't you afford a chip? You don't have to get a 6+ position chip with loads of custom programs. You can one with only one or two programs for less than a tuner costs.

There is something to be said for the handhelds though....I've thought of getting a used one just for the diagnostics. I like the 80 HP tune on the SCMT, it a very good "all around" program that I think fits the expectations you listed. Never had an edge, but I hear they are also quite good.

Get a 3 position chip from wildman for 350$$ You'll have a hard time getting a new tuner for less.

I had the superchips 1700 programmer. Now I have the TS 6 pos. chip. Hands down the chip wins over the programmer. I didn't have the code reader on my programmer so I aint missing much there. Dont get me wrong I'd love to have one for diagnostics. I got my chip off of ebay for only $265 which is the same price or lowwer than most programmers, just wish I went with the chip first! Now I want a custom burned chip to go with the injectors. Hope that helps.

Alright, you guys have talked me into it.... i'm thinking that TS chip is a good way to go, and looking on Ebay, the user "diezelsite" offers the chips w/ 100% feedback. 1 Quick question. Is the 140 horse (Fuel-7 program) available for our trucks? i thought that was only available on 99+. Just want to know before I send in my order. I'm thinking (Stock, High Idle, Anti-Theft, 50, 75, 100) unless the 140 is available for the obs'ers then i'd opt out the anti-theft and get the 140. Let me know what you think.

EDIT: Never mind about the 140/ fuel-7 thing. I guess they are 2 totally different programs. So I'm thinking (Stock, High-Idle, 50, 75, 100, 140)

Thanks!

Robb
