Can you waterproof a starter?
Time and again when I go into deep mudholes my starter gets wet and when I try to restart it won't budge until I tap it with a hammer or let it dry out. Is there such a thing as a waterproof starter? Is there anyway to protect your starter from water?

They carry a waterproof starter for the 460. They don't have a picture listed but you can call them. It would be a lot easier then trying to do the same blind. They may even have a kit for you to buy.

Any marine starter will be water resistant. Water proof is pretty hard to do with a starter due to the motor shaft having to extend to the outside of the starter. But the water resistant work real well.
