my dad still has his 77 f-150 that he ordered new in 76. it is the only vehicle he has ever bought new (it was before he got married). it has a 351 with a 4spd. 4x4 reg cab long box. other than rebuilding the front diff and maintenance i don't think he has ever done anything to it. it is almost completely worn out now though. he thought the original alternator went out a couple years ago but it just needed a new battery. then last year it died. i put a new pickup coil in it and brought it back to life. i always wanted that pickup when i was younger but then my dreams grew up. i wanted a 460 but didn't want to put it in a half ton. i bought a 77 highboy (namesake) to build up but before i got much done on it i bought a 79 1 ton 4x4 with a 460 already in it.

I still have a 1977 F150 Explorer 4x4,silver w/ blue stripes that my Dad bought new.It has a 351M along with a ZF 5 speed overdrive I installed.I repainted it since the silver faded over the years, but besides replacing the tailgate there is less than a pint of bondo on the whole truck. It has a little over 100,000 miles on it.

part of the family
My 1976 copper f100 300 6 4speed has 44000 original miles on it. It has not been touched other than with tender loving care. the paint is showroom shiny and gets lots of looks. It has no radio or cig lighter, just plain vanilla. Probably not another one like it anywhere.

In late Nov '74 finally decided which dealership and what options I wanted. :)
It was delivered on Feb 14 of '75.
F150,
2 wheel drive,
no chrome,
no radio,
no carpet,
plain vinyl bench seat,
green interior,
single color Wimbledon-White,
long wide bed with tool box (133" wheel base),
A/C,
PS,
360FE,
Warner T-18,
TractionLoc (3L25),
stock wheels and tires (H78-15s on 5.5" wide wheels),
extra "mid ship" gas tank,
heavy duty shocks,
SwingLock mirrors,
chrome front bumper,
step rear bumper
No packages other than A/C which came with tinted windows and extra cooling radiator.
Power front disk brakes and electronic ignition were standard.
It's still got its original paint which is getting pretty dangged thin. ;)
My changes and tinkering I've done to it over the years would take a book. ;)
One change was to put the heaviest front coil springs that Ford made to fit it... were added before the year warantee was out. Big improvment that! :)
Going to take it Christmas shopping tomorrow. ;)

Well, I guess I fit in here. I just received my grandfather's 1974 F-100 Explorer. I remember the day he bought it new in Parsons, Tennessee. Midnight Metallic Blue with White roof and white stripes along the bottom. He had that truck up to the day he passed and now it has been handed down to me. Really sad, but I have wanted that old blue truck for years.
I am about to start a resto / street modification to it. Nothing radical, but the Ford modular hweel sfrom a '94 F-150, new paint, interior and a nice stereo.
BTW, when I picked it up from my aunt, she gave me the owners manual, a file folder with every receipt PawPaw had done to the truck since new and the one thing that really got my "sniffles" going: He had kept the original Tennessee Application for Title in his wallet right up to the day he passed.
Anyone knoe where I can get an original stripe kit for Old Blue?

I now own the 78 F150 4x2 my grandfather bought new in 78 (I was with him). It was a garage kept farm truck until my father kept it outside for about 6 years. I have had it about 3 weeks now and I am in total love. At 69,000 original miles, I am putting her on the road full time with a few comfort and beautification changes.

Just a note for the masses.
This thread was only about Original owners and the truck THEY bought new from the dealership or bought back from someone they sold it to.
It's The concept of The Original Purchaser Still Having it
As much as they are a great story.... I dont think it was intended for future generation family member ownership.

Although I was present during the purchase of the truck, I wasn't the "original buyer." I just coveted and cared for the truck. Since it wasn't my money that bought it.... please delete my errant post as well.
I thought the spirit of the thread would include those who have known their truck since it's birth............
Jesh! Don't you appreciate new members superman? Perhaps I should just move on to another forum.
