Can anyone tell me where my door switches are, on my 2001 Ranger? The interior light sometimes stays on, forcing me to open and close the doors a few times...I'd like to lubricate the switches, but they aren't in plain view.
I believe in a 2001 they are in a gap in the door, but they shouldn't be hard to see.
On my '94 it's a small button that sticks out of the cab side where the kick panel would be.
Not true! The switches are built on the latch assembly in the door, and you can't see them at all. Normally spraying the door latch with WD-40, then open & close the door a few times will free up the switch.
Bobs right, the switches are hidden in the door latch area & most folks have luck spraying them with WD-40, or a plastics safe, electrical contact cleaner.
Check the "Tech Info" thread atop this forum. Scroll down to the "misc" section, for a thread link on the suject. Tons of other useful info there too!!!!
Many thanks to all who replied, and for all the helpful tips! Not seeing an actual door lamp switch, I thought I was losing my mind...glad it's in the door mechanism.
And as much as I feel foolish asking this question, I searched the forum, although for whatever reason, I cannot find the "Tech Info" thread...Anyone have a direct link?
It's the first thread on the first page. FINALLY back up.
Bob on the 2001 I may well be wrong, but I can gaurantee it's a small button on my '94. I've pushed it when the door was open before to make it stop going off. However knowing your base of knowledge, I assume you meant only the 2001.
For some reason I can't get a link to the "Tech info" thread to work!!!!
What up with that moderators?????
So, scroll up & click on "Ranger & B Series",
that'll take you to to this forums front page, where all threads are listed.
The first thread atop this forum is the "Tech Info" thread. Click on it & scroll down to the "miscellaneous" section, toward the bottom & you'll find the link to the door ajar/dome light thread.
As I said, lots of good info there, so be sure to check it out.
