Now that the cold wet winter has arrived my door locks are sticky and hard to open.I put graphite in them and that works for a while. Anyone know of a better product for door locks.I'm not talking about frozen locks.
WD40 works for me awhile but I think it dries up. I put 3in1 oil on my key and put it in there and it seems to do better. I havent had to oil it in quite some time.
Every winter I get the same problem. As this is temperature related I think the locking mechanism is made of some type of alloy that contracts/expands easily depending on the outside temperature.
This goes the same with the tailgate lock so I think the locks are just poorly made.
I also tried Graphite and lube. oil but can only get temp. relief.
The only thing I have found that works is LUBE 1 made by Slick50. This stuff works great. Since I have been putting it in the locks, I have never had them freeze or lock up. I also put it on the rubber weather strip and don't get any freezing there either.
Haven't had this problem with my truck but with the soon-to-be ex's camry it would happen every winter. I had success soaking the locks with WD-40, then I'd spray in lock de-icer. Last time I got some was a year ago at Wal-Mart...now that I kicked her out of my house I don't need any
