Valve adjustment

Well once again I'm up against the wall......I'm so close to starting my 58 with a 223 that I can taste the exhaust! But I have a problem, I can't find the right manual to find my specs for my truck. I've used the specs off of a 58 t-bird with a 223 that shows that i should gap them at .019, i've gone through and adjusted the valves at tdc but I am still getting bubbles in my carb bowl, and I'm getting blow back out of my carb throat. Now I know this is not healthy so can anyone tell me the EASIEST way to adjust my valves and which are the intake and which are the exhaust. Tommorrow I'm doing a leak down test to see (hopefully) what valves are staying open, but I need some help!!!!!!!!!!!!! Once again this is a 223 in a 58 Thanks again FTE!!!!--jax

You should always adjust your valves with the engine warm and if you look at the intake the ports will line up with the intake valves and the exaust ports will line up with the exaust valves on each cylinder.

thank yall for ur advice--i did a bleed down test and got them almost where they need to be--my problem is now that the coil is bad. So tommorrow I'm replacing it and the points and we'll see if she pops or not--thanks again for the words of wisdom.
