Just bought a 95 black XLT. The paint is faded just a bit. I took some automotive polishing compound and it did fine on the small test area and would definitely be followed by a good wax job. Is this the right way to go or would I be better off going to a detail shop (I guess is it worth the extra money)? I don't mind the elbow grease, it's the best quality that I really want. Also, are these painted with a clear coat? Is it okay to use the polishing compound (it's a much finer grit than rubbing compound)?
after a few years working at a detailing shop...it pays to have someone do it. but ive heard some bad stuff about the polishing compound it is possible to rub paint off so us alot of water and not much compound. go with mothers wax
